Holiday Greetings!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and the Best for the New Year to all of our Castle Park family, wherever you may be. Here in Michigan, we’ve been treated to the freezing cold of early winter, interspersed with spring-like temperatures flirting with the 60s—but thus far, not much seasonal snow, so we are hoping the attached photo from a past year will put you in the Holland Holiday Spirit.

In just a few months, spring will settle in and we’ll head into another beautiful summer season. So with that in mind, read on for a few bits of news and a couple of ways you might consider helping to make our 2022 season one of the very best ever.

We were all sorry to lose Cassandra at the end of last summer, and we will miss her tremendously. But there’s good news: Jeanne Kane, known to many of us from her service years ago as a play Class Director, as a Barnswallow Manager and as the first “official” Castle Park Social Director, will return as Social Director in 2022. We can all look forward to welcoming her in her “new but old” capacity next summer. Returning staff include Kenny Watters, who works with Mark Lawson to keep the grounds in first-rate condition; Jeanne’s son Eli, rounding out the grounds crew; and Deirdre, who will return as head lifeguard and swim instructor. Play Class is seeking a new director and staff; you can help if you have any ideas of candidates, by contacting Martha Dahlman or Ruthie Stebbins.

Here are some other ways you can help prepare for a terrific Summer of 2022:

—volunteer to serve on a committee by contacting the committee chair, listed in the Castle Park Directory;
—volunteer to work with the committee that’s planning the 2022 Cottage Tour, by contacting Cindy Fuller;
—contact Stephanie Griffin if you know of possible candidates for 2022 Barnswallow Manager;
—know that the Board’s representatives to the Nominating Committee, Martha Dahlman and Lawrence Hedblom, will be filling out the committee and beginning their work in the coming months, so please respond to their calls!
—plan to attend the Information Meeting on Memorial Day weekend for updates on projects in the Park like roof replacements and the Barnswallow floor . . . as well as for the opportunity to greet neighbors, friends and the summer season!

Until then, enjoy the holiday season and stay safe and well.
