Incident

Last Sunday morning 1/14/24 a burning truck was discovered in front of the Old Post Office. It was a pickup configured for snowplow and we initially thought it was working the snowy roads. The sheriff investigated and found that the truck was stolen farther north (Mason County, Ludington area) and deliberately burned here. The sheriff feels he knows who is involved but does not have enough evidence to do anything. He reports that the expected culprits have left the area.

So far at the site, we see the road and rock wall are scorched and some rocks are displaced.

Rae Lawson has been in contact with the sheriff on this. We have had no reports of any problems beyond the burning truck, but we wanted Castle Parkers to know what is going on so you can arrange for your cottages to be checked, if desired. If anything is found to be out of line, please tell the sheriff and let us know as well.
