Library Event with Roberta Rubin – July 25

Roberta Rubin, Trustee and a founding board member of the American Writers Museum in Chicago and former long time owner of one of the top 10 bookstores in America, will lead a discussion of our 2023 Summer Book Pick “The Pioneers” by David McCullough. Please join the Library Committee with this fascinating discussion on Tuesday, July 25 at 4:00 pm at the Castle.

David McCullough, one of our most distinguished historian storyteller’s has won many awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This work, his last, is the little known story of the pioneers who carried the aspirations of a new nation to what became Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Northwest Ordinance required conditions for the admission of states including freedom of religion, free universal education, individual rights and the prohibition of slavery.
