Survey results are in!

Thanks to all who took the recent Beach/Shoreline Preservation Survey. We had a terrific response — 162 folks (2:1 cottage owners to offspring) took the survey — and one thing was very clear: Whether we’re talking about Castle, South or North, this community loves their beach and their proximity to the lake.

Almost all respondents feel these are an essential part of Castle Park, and most indicated their top priority is to find an effective solution to manage the eroding shoreline. Other key priorities are that the Board consider a solution that is inclusive of all shared shoreline assets; cost; and that our funding strategy be sensitive to the needs of all Castle Parkers. The purpose of the survey was to get a sense of the importance of the beach and shoreline assets to the membership, and their role in our collective CP experience, and to get a sense of members’ priorities, especially given the potential scope and expense of any undertaking. In weighing next steps in how to manage the erosion and preserve the shoreline/beach for the future, the Board will consider the survey data, along with recommendations from engineers and other experts.
