Sustainability Committee

Midsummer News from the Sustainability Committee:

Friday, July 21, we have another fantastic barbecue at the Castle. This will be a zero-waste event, meaning that we encourage you to bring your own cutlery and serving ware or use the products provided which are totally compostable.

Alert tennis players: Please donate your used tennis balls at the Pro Shop, as they can be recycled now! A non-profit, Recycleballs, driven by tennis players, is striving to recycle and reuse all tennis balls through your donations. So, go through your drawers and bins to find some balls that are looking for a new life and drop them in the specified box at the Pro Shop.

The summer food waste compost program is doing well. About 10 cottages are participating, but we could use more! There are 2 remaining white buckets behind the Castle looking for your family to join the composting crew. We have plastic liners for the buckets right inside the door where you pick up the new directory. With approximately 40% of all food ending up in the landfill, we encourage you to join us and help reduce that percentage. For questions, please email Betsy Clarke (betsy.clarke18@gmail.com) or Sally Kelly (salkelly@earthlink.net).

We’re happy to say that Family Faire has finally re-joined the other stores in accepting plastic bags again. Right by their front door. Or, you can use them to pick up trash on the beach. Either way is a win for the environment!

Thank you all for your efforts to keep our planet clean! Mother Nature is smiling. 😎
